Abstract:
This paper presents a quantitative evaluation of Sam I Am and Green Eggs and Ham, Still through a dual axis model measuring emotional entropy (EE) and musical composition chaos to derive a Chaos Quotient (CQ). The analysis yields a Chaos Quotient (CQ) of 15.7 / 20, situating the composition in the upper right high chaos quadrant. Visual analytics—including flow diagrams, bar charts, scatter plots, and quadrant charts—support the findings. By formalizing chaos as a measurable parameter, this study contributes to emerging methodologies in experimental musicology and offers a reproducible framework for analyzing genre fused compositions.
Introduction:
Musical chaos arises from lyrical volatility and structural unpredictability (Meyer; Huron). By combining afrorap, neo soul, operatic interludes, and jazz improvisation, Sam C. Serey’s composition embodies high emotional entropy and structural fluidity. This study formalizes its evaluation through a dual axis framework, asking: How can chaos be quantified as a compositional parameter in hybrid musical forms?
Methodology:
1. Emotional Entropy (EE): Lyrical segmentation and scoring (0–10), weighted for freestyle passages.
2. Chaos Quotient (CQ): Calculated as:
[ CQ = (Weighted\ EE \times Musical\ Chaos\ Multiplier\ [MCM]) \pm Lyrical\ Modifiers]
3. Dual Axis Visualization: CQ plotted against qualitative musical chaos.
